Female Parakeets Have Unusually Dark Brown Ceres

Both my female parakeets (aged about 4 and 1) have dark brown ceres. They did not have this when I first had them, both from different pet stores. These ceres aren’t the common brown color of a female keet, they’re quite dark, almost burgundy brown in color. My eldest keet’sbeen this way almost all her life, and I hadn’t thought much of it until my younger keet started showing signs of darkening cere too. Have any parakeet owners on this site been familiar with a dark cere in either gender of parakeet? I’vehad seven parakeets in total and almost all of them have had it. They eat a diet of pelleted foods that I sometimes change throughout the year, along with fruit and veggies, save avocados, chocolate, etc. If any of you might know why this has happened please let me know, in detail. i just got a white parakeet, he’s by himself and i’m concerned that he’s not very happy…. i try to gethim out of thecage and he doesn’t like it he flied around and then he wants to go back. Also he won’t sing and it seems like h always wants to be asleep. The cage is of fair size and he’s got food, water, a swing, and some toys but he only stays in one spot unless i move him.
Im concerned i’m doing something wrong. What can i do to make him feel happier?
any advice would be great!

Screaming parakeet

I have 4 parakeets,there is one that sits and screams at the others. It doesn’t seem to be mean with them,but just screams. It is only this one certain bird. It is to the point of being very annoying. You can’t hear nothing over its screaming. It reminds me of someone growling at another person excessively. Can you help me,do i need to seperate him?

Breeding

My two parakeets have known each other for quite a long time. but the female doesn’t lay any eggs or wantto breed? why wont they? is something wrong? i know one is a female and the other is a male so i dnt know whats exactly wrong

clipped wings

Do wings which have been clipped grow back? We have two parakeets which we adopted from someone and are about two years old. How do we tell if their wings have been clipped. They are not tame so have been working on trying to make them more finger friendly so have only had out of cage a couple of times. One bird seems to fly better than the other. Thanks for your suggestions.

Thank you for this terrific site on raising a parakeet. Mine showed up on the doorstep 12/21 at 9pm! Happened to have a cage. I’m going to try your training technique with the ladder and then the finger and then flight BUT how do you entice the bird back to the cage? What if she wants to stay in some high spot I can’t reach?
