That’s a good way or you can talk to her/him a lot and he/she might get used to talking
I’d say that it should work. =]
You can get a device called “Birdy Wordy” at some pet stores. It works like a tape recorder. But birds don’t have a very long attention span, so don’t be upset if it doesn’t talk right away. It takes a keet long to learn than some birds.
Thats the same method I’ve used on my budgies and cockatiels. It has been successful, but not with all my birds. I still have birds that don’t talk at all.
Because I have 2 young children it’s hard to get *quiet* 1 on 1 time with my birds so I made up a cd and put it on repeat when we left the house for short periods of time (taking son to school etc).
I just used 1 word at a time, such as “hello” with a 1 minute gap of silence and put it on repeat.
I’ve been told you should only subject birds to word training for 15 mins at a time but I don’t know how true this is.
It takes me 30-40 mins to do the school run in the morning so my birds get the cd for that time…..I don’t think I’ve damaged them psychologically yet, but in 40 minutes they only get the word 40 times, but at least it’s quiet enough for them to hear it.
