It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some people can be. honestly, did it not occur to you to do some research *before* purchasing the poor bird?
Haul yourself down to the local vet clinic asap and ask some advice before you kill the poor thing.

The general rule is that bigger is better. Your Parakeet must have enough room to fly around for exercise. The length of the cage is more important than the height.
    20″x12″x18″ for 1 Bird
    40″x20″x32″ for a Pair
Do not crowd the cage with toy’s. Three on the bottom should be sufficient. Keep some spare so you can change them around every couple of day’s,in the hope your bird will not get bored. A swing is always a favourite,as is a mirror!
A combination of seeds, pellets, vegetables, and fruits.
If you are around your bird MOST of the day,she should be fine.A couple of hours away will do no harm, but leave a radio on low.Parakeets are social creatures and NEED company. If you are out most of the time, then a friend for her IS a good idea.
Good luck with your new bird, enjoy her!!!

Parakeets often eat loose bagged seed. This is VERY important – parkeets eat the seeds but leave the shells, so it often looks like they have food when they really don’t. Make sure add or replace the seeds EVERY DAY – so many parakeets die because the owners were never told or realize that the bird doesn’t have any food due to shells.

you should get a pretty big cage parakeets like the space and you should get another parakeet they can get lonely or stressed if theres not another bird of if he doesn’t get much attention parakeets also love toys they really like toys with mirrors on them and get the bird food that’s brokin up it might be easier for it to eat!
