Repetition is the key. After 5 days, the bird should take the treat from her with her hand on the outside of the cage. The bird will learn that the key word means a goody. When this is accomplished, offer the bird a hand held perch with a treat in the other hand and using the key word. With practice the bird will perch and be rewarded. Work up to her finger, if the bird bites, push the bite toward the bird with a firm no. Try not to make a big deal out of it. Wear gloves if you need to until the habit stops. Using the treat and keyword combination really works. Any bird breeder or avian vet can cut the birds wings properly and teach you if you are so inclined. A good pellet food is far better nutrition than seeds alone. An all seed diet leads to malnutrition and shortens the lifespan. 10% seed and 10% fruits and veggies should be added. A small water bottle on the outside of the cage keeps the water fresh. There are seed cups that have a built in lower perch that keeps the food poop free too. I believe it is possible to teach a bird to come to you which is real handy in escape accidents.avoid avacados,chocolate, and others say grape seeds.
