Think I have a sick Parakeet. Need Advice.?

Two hours ago, my Parakeet was perfectly fine. She was eating and chirping, and being her normal self. Then half an hour later she was on the bottom of the cage, huddled in a corner. We took her out and now have her in a shoebox with some towels. She huddled in one of the corners and it appears like she is sleeping. Sometimes she tries to get out and flaps her wings, but otherwise she is lethargic. It also seems like she has some trouble opening her eyes. When she is awake for a brief period of time, we give her some water, and that seems to help a little. She does share the cage with another Parakeet, who is also a female.
Do I need to get her to the vet? Is there anything I can do for her at home?

what to do for a sick parakeet, how to tell if they are sick?10 points need advice?

thank you i will give ten points and plenty of thumbs ups :)

    Parakeet having trouble flying, advice?

The weekend before XMas I noticed my budgie was holding his right wing out and could not fly very well. There was no obvious trauma, he stays in his cage (although it is a very big cage) He was otherwise healthy, but couldn’t fly. Because of the holiday I could not get him to a vet. I put him in a smaller cage and watched him carefully. He then took a turn for the worse, becoming fluffed out, less active, etc. I took him in this past weekend and the x-rays came back showing no fractures, but some deterioration in his elbow joints. Doesn’t make sense-he’s only a yr old. They gave me steroids for the wing, baytril for his “illness”. It has been almost a week now and his “sickness” is gone, but he still is having trouble with the wing. They talked of doing “blood tests”????? Does anyone know what they’d be testing for? What’s wrong with my little guy?

    Help, need parakeet egg advice?

My female parakeet died today from being egg-bound. When I found her the egg was still stuck to her butt and it was bloody/broken. She had laid another egg first which was sitting in the bottom of the cage, clean and unbroken. One of the remaining 5 birds was sitting on that egg when I came home, next to the dead mother. How can I get one of them to sit on the egg and fertilize it? The one was doing a good job but is easily distracted by the others. I’m afraid if I try to isolate that bird and the egg he won’t touch it if he knows I’ve moved it. I’m very distraught about my bird dying in “childbirth” and want to know how I can save the good egg. Any advice?
Thanks to everyone for their answers, I can’t choose one as the best because they are all very good so far! I guess I never thought about my birds breeding and nesting since there were 6 in the cage, hence why I didn’t know what to do. The remaining birds are all male so at least I won’t have this type of loss in the future. Thanks again.
