Budgie birds (budgerigars) or parakeets are small colourful, friendly birds that are considered good pets. They can imitate human speech if well-trained. These are intelligent birds. That is the reason why it is very easy to teach them tricks such as speaking words, acrobatics, etc.
There are two types of budgies —the American budgie or more commonly known as parakeets in America, and the English budgie. Parakeets are what you usually see in pet stores which you can buy as pets. English budgies, on the other hand, are more of the celebrity budgie because they perform in shows and other exhibitions. American budgies are smaller than English budgies and there are differences in physical characteristics but both belong to Melopsittacus undulatus species.
These exotic birds originally came from Australia. In the wild, they build their nests in eucalyptus trees and feed on fresh greens and fruits, berries and seeds. Budgies come in a variety of colors. Their colors are what usually make people attracted to them, and also their happy nature.
It is easy to train budgie birds. They do lots of activities and like to play around but relatively, budgies are quieter than other their other relatives (but they are still noisy).
It is okay to own just one budgie as a pet as long as you shower it with attention. If not, have another budgie inside the cage or put lots of toys so that your budgie will not get bored.
