what does it mean when a parakeet is going bald?

One of my parakeet looks sick & is losing a lot of feathers on its head. It is starting to look bald. I wanted to know if this usually happens & what does it mean.

is my parakeet going to be ok?

For the past week or so my older female parakeet has been acting weird, she’s been sticking her wings out like when they get overheated. and she has been blinking hard and every now and then her entire body is the same level, like she sits on the pirch and every part of her body is low to the pirch except for her head. And at first i thought she was laying an egg but shes not showing any signs of laying an egg or egg binding, i used to breed her so i know what to look for. And at one point she was jerking her head around like she was having a stroke or something, but she didn’t fall to the floor of the cage or anything, i have no clue whats wrong with her, what could be wrong with her?

p.s. she is an older bird, i dont know how old but i’ve had her for a year and back when i first got her she was at least a year old.

    Parakeet….is he going to die?

I have three parakeets in a large cage. There is two females and one male. They are all around 6 years old. The females seem really healthy, but my male Newton I think is really sick. For a week he has noticeable increased breathing rate, and now for about three days he has barely left the bottom of the cage and I don’t think he has ate now for at least a day. We are planning to take him to the vet Friday because that is when the avian vet is available. But anyways..does it sound like he is dieing? I can obviously see that he is ill, and everything that I have read seems to point out that once they show symptoms of being ill that it is usually too late. The only thing that puzzles me is that my females are completely fine! They seem really healthy. Newton in the past year would sometimes breath more than usual for a few days but then he would seem to be normal again. what can I do to make him more comfortable till he goes to the vet?
Hey everyone thank you all for the really great answers. Luckily we were able to get him into the vert today. We did not get a clear diagnosis, but as of now his is in his own seperate cage, with the heat up. Also we cleaned the girls cage. The vet said that mostly it is the diet that was fed to him, that all seed based diets really are not that healthy. She is suspecting possible fatty liver disease. Right now we are hand feeding him food for baby birds (the vet told us to) and he is getting antibiotics for a week. We really hope the little guy makes it! Already though with two feedings in, his eyes are a little more lively, but I’m not getting my hopes up. I got to spend time with a really great Cornell trained vet who actually spent time with me. It was an overall good experience. Pray for Newton all!
    Thanks!

Why is my parakeet pulling out his feathers? Is he sick, is he going to die?

My parakeet for the past week has been plucking his feathers out. Is this a sign of death? And he is not very old, he is maybe 7 months old. Answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for the speedy and very well detailed responses. Thank you.

Is this method of training my parakeet to talk going to work?

I have recorded my voice saying “hello” over and over and put it on a cd. i put the raido next to its cage and played it. WILL THIS WORK OR IS THERE A BETTER WAY?

    Thanks
i would pet him and talk to him but he goes crazy even when you get near. my tame one died when it got its foot stuck in bottom of the cage.
does anybody know about how long it will take to teach him to say hello
