Parakeets Toys

Like people, pet parakeets get bored when they are cooped up inside their cage for a long time. That is why owners should give them parakeets toys or set them up with videos or some other form of entertainment. Birds like colourful and shiny objects - mirrors, bells and ropes make great toys for parakeets. Remember, your parakeet needs to get lots of exercise every day and one way they can do that is by playing with the toys you provide.

One good parakeet toy is a toy bell. The rope should also be short so as not to entangle your pet with it.

You can also provide them with music to listen too or videos to watch if they are near the TV. You might even try putting on an audio that will try to train them to talk . Simple toys will also make your parakeets happy such as crack-proof mirrors or beads.

Other great parakeets’ toys include plastic and rope rings for climbing, hopping or peeking and a bird’s gym complete with swings, perches, rings, rope, cranks, and chain links. A bird’s gym is placed on the table, not inside the cage. It is more expensive than other toys but it will really make your pet parakeet happy and will give you a real chance to interact with him outside the cage.

Parakeets are really quite smart and get bored easily so you should not put everything inside the cage at the same time. Try to put several toys at a time and then after a month or so, remove those and put several different toys in. You can keep rotating these toys month after month and this will keep your bird amused and they will be getting “new” toys to play with every month! This also keeps them used to a changing environment so they won’t be afraid everytime something new comes into the room.

Fortunately, you can buy several parakeets tosy at a time because they are relatively inexpensive. There are many toys to choose from. But in addition to giving them toys, you want to play with your parakeet because human interaction is still better for both you and your bird!
