I bought Forti-Diet Egg-Cite Bird Feed and gave it to my parakeets. The male is showing signs of illness by sleeping and puffing up. The poop seems a little watery when it dries on the cage floor. I don’t think there is an bird vet around. I did take the new food out and replaced it with the old bird feed. I was trying to fortify there diet the best that I could. Is there anything else that I can do?
I need real feedback on whether or not i should get a small pet?

i am 18. i’ve been wanting to get a small pet for over a year now, preferably 2 rats or maybe a cockatiel(haven’t decided yet). i’ve done tons of research on both these animals, yesterday my mom said that i can get a pet, but i am suddenly hesitant because im worried they will get tumors or some other health problem and die. plus, the animals cage can’t be in my bedroom(except for when i take them out to play) because my room is always freezing cold, it sometimes gets below 60(i do have a heater in my room but it can’t be turned on 24/7). there is room for the cage in the dining room, but i have a cat who is a killer. my cat would probably be sitting next to the cage all day. i don’t want my rats, or cockatiel, or what ever animal i get(if i get any) to be scared & become stressed because of my cat. ive owned pets before. parakeets, a hamster, and guinea pigs. that was before i had a cat though. anyway, if i do get a pet, and if the animal(s) becomes sick, then my mom would have to pay for the vet bill, and though she MIGHT be able to afford it, it will be such a strain on her to spend hundreds of dollars…my mom currently has 2 dogs. her 11 year old cocker spaniel has health problems, so she already pays for his vet bills. my mom currently doesn’t have a job, neither do i…
so, should i get a small pet or should i just wait…? thanks
