Known for their lovely songs, these birds have also been able to learn a word here and there if given the right encouragement. If taken care of properly, these birds can live up to 14 years.

Most of us have had cats and/or dogs as pets, and they are very good animals and loving companions. However, one thing about dogs and cats is the fact that they have a relatively short lifespan, and we all know how traumatic the loss of a beloved pet can be. Also getting another companion to them is a big advantage as they can complement each other while you are away.

You should also have plenty of sprouted seeds, cuttlebone and mineral block. Make that all of the food is incredibly fresh and should your bird reject the food; be sure to remove it from the cage before it spoils. Also, if you can afford to, purchase organic food. It will be much better for your Macaw in the long run because he or she won’t be ingesting potentially harmful pesticides and additives.

I think my parakeet is sick. What can I do without taking him to the vet?

The skin around his rump is raw and you can feel hard round bumps underneath. His feces also clumps and sticks at the opening, and he has lost a numerous amounts of feathers. Also, he can’t fly and his feathers are fluffed up all the time. We thought he/she was pregnant but he/she didn’t lay eggs in the nesting box. We’re worried for him/her.
Oh yeah, he is also 5 [human] years old,and eats a lot.
