    Training a parakeet to perch on my finger or shoulder?

    I would like to buy a parakeet but im curious, will it allow me to hold it or does it take a lot of time for them to adjust to you and become comfortable

      no longer than most hand raised birds it takes about 2-4 days to teach them to hop up on your hand another week or so to teach them where they are allowed to fly, not that they won’t push it later. And about a week to potty train so within a month you should have a good solid relationship with your bird.

      Well…some of the parakeets at the pet store are already finger tame.Some of them are not,like my budgie.You should learn more about parakeet taming and all of that.Here is a website that tells all about budgies and how to hand tame them.BudgiePlace.com Remember,wait five days and then stick your finger inside of the cage(Slowly) and put your finger in front of the parakeet and If he/she freaks out and flutters around the cage,then the parakeet is not finger tame.
