Will a female parakeet take care of a baby thats not her own?

    Category: Parakeet Community

I currently have a female parakeet and wish to hatch a baby. Instead of getting a male, I just want to get one egg. If I hatch a baby in an incubator and then put the baby in with the mom, will she feed and care for it. She is mature.

it really all depends on the bird but its not likely

It is not very likely she will raise it on her own. For a hen to care for a chick she must also be laying eggs. Both the foster egg and her own eggs have to be around same age also. If you want to raise bird babies you will have to get a male and female who are bonded and hope they lay eggs. Parakeets/aka budgies are very picky and odd breeders also.
